Not a great way to identify an anonymous source
An AP article, Marines Prop Up Ailing Local Gov't in Iraq (via the Washington Post), contains this snippet:
"There's been a concerted campaign against government officials that's had some great success ... the government center is nearly devoid of governance," said the top Marine intelligence officer for the 3rd Battalion, 8th Regiment, who asked not to be identified because of security policies for intelligence officers. It's things like this that make me really wonder about some reporters. Unless 3/8 is in an unusual situation, there's probably only one intel officer in the battalion, and definitely not more than a few if more than one. What a way to screw up a source. On the same token, if I was an intel officer in Iraq, I'd avoid the press like the plague itself.

You asked about continuing your education a while back. The 'party degree'(so called because the light class load and vaporish nature of the subject means getting the old sheepskin and keeping the money coming from dear old dad won't interfere with making the frat house rounds or missing any beer busts/pot parties) is 'Communications'. That is the degree most college athletes take, since it leaves them the time to work out and get tutored as well as making a beer bust or three. Basket weaving has become passe`, being more dofficult then journalism and not nearly as lucrative. Notice how many attractive female Lawyers there are reading the news ticker nowdays? It pays a LOT better then entry level laywering does. Most of the talking heads on TV are making more money then most of the people they interview. At least legally. Notice how many Congresscritters have less then 1,000 in their bank account when they go off to Washington and when they come home a decade later are multi-millionairs? Co-ink-see-dink? I think not. Anyway, all you need to gain entry to old style journalism is a communications degree (what was called a journalism major back in the day, it was a party degree even then. I can still remember Journalism major and In-a-ga-da di-vi-da baby shaking the windows at Elliot hall while I am trying to study for my materials final. Engineering REQUIRES study. No way you can 'fake' building a bridge, like you can fake an article on Hezebollah).
So don't expect to much from the media. You are looking at the bottom of the barrel in both intellect and effort.
BTW, did you check the 'John Roberts' that posted here a while back. He might have been the CNN John Roberts, not the Chief Justice John Roberts.

And just what was S3 thinking? No one knows who is whom on the regimental TOE? Bust this officer to lance corporal, better yet bust out of the corps.
