As a long-time reader of TAOC and OJ, I must say congratulations on making OJ!

YES! I second the congrats on making the pages of OJ. As for the dems, I don't think they can be swayed. I fear dark days lie ahead.

Thanks for a neat explication and deconstruction of a personality which some of us know instinctively and usually unerringly: the Pious Defeatnik.

You seem to have no problem defining defeat. How would you define victory? How can you keep spouting this sort of wingnut nonsense - "Oh, let's blame it on the intellectuals! - when the facts of the situation are staring you right in the face? Nitwits.

Purvis,

The issue isn't a question of defeat or victory, no matter what metric is used or abused to define it. Instead, the issue I tried to draw attention to is the reaction to that perceived state. There are many of us who abhorred by defeat, and therefore wish to avoid it. At the same time, it seems there are many of us who are attracted to it, and seek to see it everywhere and revel in it.

Iraq is a diversion. As the army attacks Iraq, the US gov't erodes rights at home by suspending habeas corpus, stealing private lands, banning books like "America Deceived" from Amazon, rigging elections, conducting warrantless wiretaps and starting 2 illegal wars based on lies. Soon, another US false-flag operation will occur (sinking of an Aircraft Carrier) and the US will invade Iran, (on behalf of Israel).
Final link (before Google Books bends to gov't demands and censors the title):
America Deceived (book)

If Karl Rove could arrange all that, you'd think he would have held onto Congress....or not....Perhaps it is a very deep plan...very deep...
