The Adventures of Chester Radio: Interview with Army Military Police in Baghdad
Today's guests on The Adventures of Chester Radio are Staff Sergeant Jason Oliver and Specialist Kimberly McGinness, two Army military police who are training the Iraqi police forces in Baghdad.
Staff Sergeant Oliver and Specialist McGinness discuss the competence of the police, what the biggest crimes are ("auto theft"), how they get around the language barrier, Specialist McGinness' view of why the Iraqis might be a little frightened of her ("I carry a bigger weapon than they do"), and the bravery of the Iraqis.

Excellent interview. I've crossposted over at my site and added you to my blogroll. Thanks for getting this out.

I do not have time to listen at the moment. However, we surely must question the truthfullness of someone saying the Iraqis are brave. After all we only hear of the Iraqis running away.

CJ,
Thanks very much.
Davod,
Question away, I suppose, but you should listen first.

i have heard little directly from US troops so this interview was very interesting. Of course, it is a small sample and hardly a definitive report on the situation situation. However, for me, it is a valuable item of evidence. Keep up the good work.

I found the interview very interesting, as I kept trying to visualize the dusty hot crowded streets of their job. The matter-of-factness of their attitudes.... here in the U.S. we just don't get enough exposure to anything like Reality TV Baghdad. I would watch that show every day.

That was great. Now that's one celebrity I would love to meet! Have a great day.

I have a buddy who's over there doing similar police training work - SWAT tactics - he's back here for a break this week then returning again soon, he says that the training is going very well and candidates are eager and quick to learn.
