Here's an interesting piece addressing troop level arguments. I'm not sure I agree with it because I think there are things his purely mathmatical approach left out, but it is interesting none the less.

Six Steps to Victory reads like an indightment of the policies that have brought us to this point. It's too detailed to be absorbed at face value as an essay. The author needs to group related suggestions in outline form followed by explanations so the reader can grasp it quickly. Otherwise, it reads like a rant.
In otherwords, I don't remember anything I read.
